鞣しの種類
Let me introduce the types of tanning available at Ocean Leather.
1
vegetable tanned
Vegetable tanning is one of the traditional methods of turning animal hides into leather, using natural plant tannins. Tannins are natural compounds found in wood, bark, and leaves, known for their astringent properties. Representative plants include trees such as mimosa and quebracho, from which the tannins are extracted.
2
Synthetic tanning
Synthetic tanning is a tanning method that uses chemically synthesized tannins instead of vegetable tannins. Using modern technology, we artificially reproduce the same effects as vegetable tannins.
3
others
Ocean Leather can handle both vegetable tanning and synthetic tanning. Please contact us first to discuss.
Features
Environmentally friendly: Using natural plant ingredients reduces the use of chemicals.
Change in texture: The more you use leather, the more its color and texture will change, allowing you to enjoy a unique texture called "aging."
Stiffness and Durability: Vegetable tannins give the leather firmness and soften with use.
Features
Stable quality: Because it is chemically synthesized, the quality is more uniform and stable compared to plant-based products.
Customizability: By adjusting the chemical composition, you can achieve the desired softness, hardness, and color development.
Efficient production: It can be tanned in a shorter time than vegetable tanning, making it suitable for mass production.

01
Preparation
We receive discarded skins from our seafood processing department as well as from other companies and proceed with the preparatory work.
We carefully remove any excess flesh and fat left on the skin, ensuring that no holes are created during the process.
02
Degreasing and Neutralizing
Using a drum, we thoroughly wash and remove the oils and impurities that cause odor at this stage.

03
Tanning and Drying
Tanning (preservation treatment) is applied by dissolving vegetable tannins in water and adding the fish skin to it, transforming the raw fish skin into leather. Once it is thoroughly tanned, let it dry.
04
Dyeing
The dye powders are mixed and applied to dye the leather.
